Please pay particular attention to the screen titled “PTA/PTSA School Directory Information Verification“.  This information is provided to CES by Central Office for our school directory.   If data is incorrect in your Family File, it will be incorrectly reflected in the school directory. Don’t forget to update your Family File through CANVAS.

Open House Schedule

Join us for the Back to School Open House. Meet your teacher. Drop off school supplies. See your friends!

  • August 30 from 2-3:30: This is for Kindergarten and all those that are new to Clarksville Elementary School
  • August 31 from 2-3: This is for all returning students

Everyone is invited to the back-to-school ice cream social on the blacktop on August 31st. Starts at 3pm!

Young Author’s Templates 2018

Every year the CES PTA offers each student the opportunity to “publish” a book. Students write their own creative story, type it into a template, cut and paste the story into a blank book, and then illustrate their book. All parents are invited to a grade-wide Young Authors Tea to celebrate their child’s accomplishment. The Young Authors tradition has given students not only a useful lesson in creative writing and project completion, but also a keepsake of their literary development at CES.

Spring Fling is coming

The Clarksville Elementary School PTA is happy to present our annual Spring Fling:

Saturday, April 21 from 3pm – 7pm

Join us for a fun afternoon of rides, inflatables, laser tag, games, and food. We are super-excited to announce that T&J Waffles will be there selling their amazingly delicious waffles!

We will have lots of opportunities for student volunteers. Buy tickets here:

New After School Programs for the Spring

New classes are forming for after school. Please see below for descriptions, times and prices.

Bollywood Dance

When: Fridays starting March 16 (March – 16, 23, April – 20, 27, May – 4,11,25, June – 1)
Time: 4:05-5:00
Who: Grades K-5; girls and boys both are welcome
Why: To learn about Bollywood dance and dance!
Cost: $95
Deadline: March 7, 2018
A perfect workout with lots of fun. Join Bollywood Dance Class. Elaborate dance sequences with energetic moves. Performance for parents on the last day.

Silver Knights Chess

When: Meets every Friday that school is in
session starting 3/9 and ending 6/8 from 4-5pm. No meetings on 3/30, 4/6, 4/13 and 5/18
Who: Grades K-5
Why: Learn chess and have fun
Cost: $145 for 10 weeks
Chess club is taught by experienced Silver Knights instructors using a curriculum developed by Na onal Masters. Each weekly session is a mix of learning and play.

Cool Crafts

When: 6 sessions –Wednesdays: 03/14- 04/25
Session Dates are: 03/14, 03/21, 03/28, 04/11, 04/18, 04/25
Time: 4:05-5:00
Who: Grades K-5
Why: Students can use their imaginations to be creative
and express themselves by using different art and
craft techniques.
Cost: $120

Minion Mania and Mayhem!

When: 7 sessions –Thursdays from 4:05-5:00:
3/15, 3/22, 3/29, 4/12, 4/19, 4/26, 5/3
Who: Grades 2-5
Cost: $150
Are you obsessed with Minions? Do you want to have one live with you? Would you like to make different crafts that are Minion-themed? If you love everything Minion and want to learn to speak the Minion language, create your own Minion piggy bank, a Minion Rush board game, a Minion costume, and other funny crafts, sign up soon so that you can be their fearless leader – Gru!

Up, Up, and Away!!!

When: 7 sessions –Tuesdays from 4:05-5:00:

Who: Grades 2-5

Do you want to learn what makes a rocket soar into the sky? Do you want to design your own rockets propelled in different ways? Grab your space helmet and get ready to learn about rocketry.

Ooey Gooey Science

Mondays: 03/12- 04/23
Session Dates are: 03/12, 03/19, 03/26, 04/9, 04/16, 04/23. 4-5pm.
Who: Grades 2-5
Cost: $350
Students will make a variety of fun hands on science experiments including a tornado in a bottle, an erupting volcano, a groovy lava lamp and ooey gooey slime! All supplies included.

Roller Coaster Engineering

When: 7 sessions –Wednesdays: 09/27, 10/11, 10/18, 10/25,
11/1, 11/8, 11/15 (no class 10/4)
Time: 4:05-5:00
Who: Grades 2-5
Why: To have fun!
Cost: $140
Deadline: September 22nd by 4:00 pm

Have you ever wanted wondered how roller coasters are built? Are you interested in creating your own basic, miniature rollercoaster models? Here’s your chance! Participants will learn about the different factors affecting the motion and speed in roller coasters by designing and building their own miniature versions. Download this form and return it to your child’s teacher.

Rube Goldberg Challenge

When: 25 sessions –Mondays: 10/02- 04/30 (no class 11/20, 01/15, 02/19, or during Winter/Spring Break)
Time: 4:05-5:00
Who: Grades 4-5
Why: To learn about simple machines and STEM! Cost: $300
Deadline: September 22nd by 4:00 pm
As part of the A+ Partners in Education initiative, HCLS and HCPSS present the Rube Goldberg Challenge. The contest is offered to school teams comprised of fourth and fifth grade Howard
County students. The students transform everyday materials into a wacky innovative machine that accomplishes a given task. FULL

After School Program DRAMA The King and I

What: The King and I
Where: Clarksville Elementary School – Band Room
When: 14 sessions -Tuesdays – 09/26, 10/03, 10/10, 10/17,
10/24, 11/07, 11/14, 11/28, 12/05 Other dates: Monday 10/30
Monday & Tuesday 12/11 & 12/12 (4:05-6:30)
Wednesday & Thursday 12/13 & 12/14 (6:00-9:00) Time: 4:05-6:00 (2 hrs) on Tuesday sessions
Who: Grades 2-5
Why: To have fun!
Cost: $190 *tuition includes fee for cast photo* Deadline: Friday, September 22nd
Are you interested in acting? Do you love costumes? Is singing your passion? Do you want to be part of an amazing and classic musical? This year, we are excited to have The King and I, a musical production at CES. FULL

Cool Crafts

When: 6 sessions –Thursdays: 10/05- 11/9
Session Dates are: 10/5, 10/12, 10/19, 10/26, 11/02, 11/09
Time: 4:05-5:00
Who: Grades K-5
Why: Students can use their imaginations to be creative
and express themselves by using different art and
craft techniques.
Cost: $120
Deadline: September 22nd by 4:00 pm
Ready to get creative and have lots of fun? Join Cool Crafts for colorful creativity. We will be using all sorts of art mediums to make a variety of arts and crafts. All supplies included. Download this form and return it to your child’s teacher.

Chess

When: Club meets every Friday that school is in
session star ng 10/6 and ending 1/19. (No meetings on 10/20, 11/10, 11/24 and 12/29). 4-5pm.
Who: Grades K-5
Cost: $173 for 12 weeks
Chess club is taught by experienced Silver Knights instructors using a curriculum developed by National Masters. Each weekly session is a mix of learning and play. Playing chess is a great way to develop a child’s critical thinking skills, sportsmanship, and patience — all while having fun! Download this form and follow the instructions or use this link
