  • February is READING MONTH at CES

FEBRUARY is READING Month at Clarksville Elementary School

We are excited about the four ways to encourage our CES students to READ during the month of February.

Turning your child into a reader is as easy as 1-2-3-4!

CES Students will be coming home today with flyers explaing the start of our February READING MONTH! See the attached flyer

Books and Bundts – CES has partnered with Nothing Bundt Cakes, of Columbia, to start off our February Reading Month. This program will run from 2/1/23 – 4/1/23. Students will receive a Free Bundtlet for each month that they read 400+ minutes.

Baysox Read and Hit a Homerun – CES has partnered with the Bowie Baysox in their Read and Hit a Homerun program to encourage literacy and an excitement for reading in local elementary schools. Read 4 books and get 2 FREE Tickets to our schools Reading Night Game with the Baysox game on Saturday, May 6th. The program will run from 2/1/23 – 4/5/23. Homeroom Teachers will monitor the progress of each student.

CES Scholastic Book Fair – Our annual book fair will be held from 2/2/23 – 2/10/23. Evening Hours: 2/6 & 2/7 4:15pm-7pm; 2/8 4:15pm-9pm; 4/9 1:30pm – 7pm. Students will have an opportunity to purchase books from the book fair to read during the month. Book Fair Bingo Night will be February 8th. This is always a super fun event for the students. Scholastic Book Fair Magazine will be sent home the week of January 30th.

Read-A-Thon Fundraiser– Read-A-Thon is a literacy-based fundraiser that encourages students from Kindergarten to Fifth grade to read. Each student will create their own account to log reading minutes online. They will share this account with family and friends who will make a donation to support the students’ reading efforts. Students are encouraged to read both at home and at school. Each student will work to earn Free Participation Rewards and a Prize for their homeroom classroom. Students will bring home Read-a-Thon packets the week of February 6th.
