Volunteer Opportunity (PTA SECAC Representative)
We are searching for a PTA SECAC (Special Education Citizen Advisory Committee) Representative.
The role/position includes:
- attending SECAC meetings
- updating the PTA on special education related news
- opportunities to serve on school system policy committees and participate in other special education forums and groups within the county.

Howard County SECAC meets generally on the 2nd Wednesday of the month. The first meeting of the school year, is Sept 11th from 7-9pm in the Wilde Lake Middle School cafeteria.

All Board members have access to this account and will read all testimony submitted. Written testimony will not be edited before posting online-no personal information will be removed. It is highly recommended that testimony sent via email be submitted as an attachment. All written testimony should include your full name(s) and polygon number.

5th Grade Programming

Howard County Recreation and Parks Before and After School Programs
The county has programs that are held at Clarksville Elementary and there are a lot of fun options. I will try to keep this page updated as I can, but for the most up-to-date information and how to register, please go to this page with all the listings for activities held at our school.
And of course, the PTA is sponsoring great activities, too!
After-School Dodgeball-Session 2
This is a great way for all ability levels to stay active, be a part of a team, and have fun! Learn and play variations of dodgeball. Worried about safety? We use foam balls (gator skin) that are designed for accuracy and minimize the risk of injury.

Lego Mindstorms Rescue Missions with Club SciKidz
Use Lego EV3 with Mindstorms software to build a rescue bot! Learn how to build a rescue bot and program different sensors to complete different rescue missions! Drive your bot into danger and pick up needed supplies. Add different attachments, motors and sensors to your rescue bot to ensure the missions are completed.

The Dough ($) Lab!: We won’t be making money, but we will learn to create all kinds of fun doughs and learn some great science concepts! TGA Premier Youth Tennis (After School)

The US Tennis Association Mid-Atlantic Section (USTA MAS) proudly presents TGA Premier Youth Tennis, the first and only national tennis enrichment program in the country. Students, develop tennis skills utilizing kid-friendly equipment in a play-to-learn style that gets you rallying and having fun right away. In addition, learn relevant enrichment skills such as sportsmanship, math, science, technology, history, and more as they advance through our five-level program. Parents receive weekly email updates and progress report at the end. Program is taught by USTA-trained coaches inside the school’s gym.
Notes:
We provide all tennis equipment. Loaner racquets are available, but if you would like to purchase a take home racquet, please have your student bring a check for $20 made out to “USTA Mid-Atlantic Section” on the first day of class.
All participants must complete the USTA’s waiver before participation in any program: https://tinyurl.com/USTAMASWAIVER. Fee includes hat, wristband, and student handbook.

We need a few volunteers to help stuff back-to-school folders on Thursday (8/22) or Friday (8/23), anytime between 9 am and 3 pm.
The items to stuff will be set up in a classroom and when you arrive, you will be directed to that classroom. You can come by whenever and for however long you are available.

School Tool Box has CES’s school supply list for each grade. Simply visit their website and select your child’s grade, www.schooltoolbox.com.
Supplies are delivered directly to your house. School Tool Box suggests ordering by August 20 to have your supplies in time for the first day.
